Fun weekend!

This past weekend my mom and sister came to visit Colson. It was great to have them in town. We did a little shopping Saturday, but other than that we just hung out and were entertained by Colson. She has started smiling this week, and cooing a little the last few days. She is a super funny baby. She is the LOUDEST sleeper - she stretches, grunts, squeeks, and laughs in her sleep all night. I think it's hysterical, but Jon - not so much. Of course, he has to get up early for work every day....Anyway, here are some pics from the weekend!

Shopping....poor Colson

Such a smiley girl!

So much personality already!

She makes the funniest faces.

...and after.

Tummy Time!

I love this little girl!
P.S. Sorry for the funky spacing - formatting this blog is a pain in the you know what!

Happy Halloween!!

Colson had 2 costumes for Halloween - an adorable monkey and a super cute pumpkin. I had bought the pumpkin outfit while I was still pregnant - I couldn't resist! And Jon has called Colson his little monkey since day 1, so I had to get her a monkey costume too! She wasn't a fan of the monkey costume - it was huge on her, so she only stayed in it for a few minutes but I was able to snap a few pics. Her friend Kaia was a monkey too - totally unplanned, and super cute!

Here she is in her swing - THANK YOU again Aunt Peggy! She is really starting to love her swing.

Colson makes some pretty funny faces - here are just a few I caught on camera this week!

Week of Firsts

This week was a big week of firsts for Colson (as I imagine many of the next several weeks will be). She went for her first walk - see previous post for pic. Jon went back to work this week, so Colson and I also had our first day where it was just us. I'm alive and blogging, therefore I survived. :) She and I also went on our first outing together, just her and me, to Target. She slept through the whole thing, thankfully. It was nice to get out of the house and get some errands done. Colson also took her first bottle of breast milk from Dad this week. She has been adamantly refusing the bottle or a pacifier, but this week she downed a bottle in record speed. I am quite excited that Jon will be able to feed her at times (like 3 AM), and I can leave her if needed for an extended period of time without worrying about her eating.

Colson also had her first real bath this week. She seemed to love it - she didn't scream and cry like she does with sponge baths.

This week Colson also had several more visitors...
Tim, one of Jon's good friends from college

Stu and Mel, friends from church

Last week, some good friends of ours, Wes and Tricia, came to visit, but I apparently failed to take any pics. It was great to have them down though!

Well, here are just some fun random pics from this past week. She is just so stinking cute, I can't help but take a million pictures.

She has learned to roll on her side already. And she is smiling at something in her sleep.

Visits from Family

A few nights ago Jon and I went in to check on Colson and found her sleeping like this. We were cracking up. She is such a funny baby.

Two weekends ago Jon's brother, Rob, brought 2 of his boys to see Colson and to visit the 'beach' in Galveston. We were happy Colson was able to meet some of her cousins and her uncle!

This past weekend Jon's dad, his sister Kris, and her two daughters Kristal and Ashley came to visit. It was good to see them, and Colson was happy to meet everyone!

Just a cute pic of Colson and her Daddy. We take a seriously rediculous number of photos of this girl.

And just another of the many funny faces this girl makes.

Colson loves to be right up under our chins. She will kick her feet or wiggle her way up until she is right under our chin. It is so cute and sweet.

Tomorrow is her 2 week check-up. I can't believe she is already 2 weeks old!! Wish us luck!

Our First Walk

Yesterday Jon and I took Colson on her first walk. She pretty much slept through the whole thing, but it was nice to get outside for a while.

The walk apparently wore her out!

This is just a cute pic I got of her before she woke up this morning. Seriously, could she be any more beautiful?? I think not.

This is a funny face she makes quite often. Jon and I crack up all day long at all of the faces she makes. She is such a funny baby. I can't wait until more of her personality comes out.

And here she is 'working' with Daddy.

This girl can sleep all day long and pretty much through anything. Now if we can only get her to get her days and nights in order and sleep like that when Mommy and Daddy need to sleep!

1 Week Old!

Colson is 1 week old today! Wow. While she is taking a nap I thought I'd post a few more pics.

Jon is staying home with us this week, which is great. Today we watched Heroes, napped, and were lazy. It was rainy outside, so it was the perfect day for all 3 of us to stay in our pjs all day. :)

Colson is Here!!

So, Colson is 5 days old and I'm finally posting about her birth. Hey, that's not too bad!

Colson Richelle was born Monday, Oct 5th, at 1:14 AM by C-section. Saturday night I went in to the hospital for Cervidil (something to help my cervix get ready for the induction). I cramped pretty much all night and got no sleep. Sunday morning the pitocin was started. Contractions really were insignificant pain wise at this point. At 10 my doctor broke my water, then the contractions became, well, painful. At 11 I got my epidural. I had originally planned to see if I could do it without the epidural, with the plan that if it got beyond what I could handle, I'd get one. Well, I'm an idiot. That epidural was FANTASTIC. Even though the contractions were still managable when I got my epidural, I knew they were only going to get worse, and I wasn't sure I wanted to go through that. With the epidural I didn't really feel a thing the rest of the day - and it was a LONG day. There was no way I would have made it through 12 plus hours of contractions without it. Throughout the day my contractions would taper on and off so we would start/increase the pitocin, then they would get too rapid - no break in between them, so we would stop/decrease the pitocin. Occasionally throughout the afternoon her heart rate would drop a little with contractions, so I would change positions and then it would return to a better rate. I tried to rest/sleep a few times, but everytime I got close to sleeping her heart rate would drop and I'd have to reposition. Eventually I gave up the sleep idea. By about 6 that evening my cervix was a whopping 4 cm. Wow cervix, way to go. The possibility of a C-section was mentioned, but we were going to give it a little more time. At about 11 PM I finally convinced my mom, dad, sister, and mother-in-law to go home and get some rest - all of us were running on nothing sleep-wise. I promised I would call them when I got to 8 cm. Yeah right, I gave my cervix way too much credit. A little over an hour after they left, Colson's heart rate kept dropping with each contraction. With my cervix dilated only 5 cm by this point, and her heart rate getting dangerously low with each contraction, my doc said it was time for a C-section. After repeatedly hearing Colson's heart rate drop with each contraction, I had no objections. So we rolled to the back, and at 1:14 AM she was born! It was discovered that the cord was wrapped around her neck and she was facing forward instead of looking towards my back. With each contraction the cord would get tight around her neck, causing her heart rate to drop. Thank God for modern medicine and the ability to deliver by C-section.

Colson is absolutely beautiful. For those interested, she weighed 7 lb 4.8 oz, and was 19 inches long. I'm not sure who she looks like - some say Jon, others say me. I just think she's amazing. She is very calm and mild mannered. She hates to have her diaper changed or get a sponge bath - actually she just hates to be naked. Whether it's bath time or diaper changing time, she screams when she's undressed and stops crying as soon as her clothes are back on. She is super easy to console if she does get upset. So far she is a super easy baby.

Well, here are a few pics from the hospital.

Our First Family Photo

Yesterday was her first doctor's appointment. Just after I undressed her, she peed all over the exam table and onto the floor. It was hysterical. She had dropped about 6-7 oz before we left the hospital, but yesterday she was back up to 7 lb 4 oz! I was so proud. She is quite the good little eater. It took us a little practice to get the breastfeeding down, but now she eats like a champ.

Recovery from the C-section is going well. I'm moving a little slow, but the pain is ok, with pain meds of course. I'm just enjoying sleeping on my back again! My mom has been here all week, which has been fabulous. And Jon is taking off next week, which will be awesome. Colson will love getting to spend so much time with Daddy. Jon is loving being a daddy, and he is so great with her.

Here are a bunch of pics from this week, since I know what you guys really want is just to see pics of her!

She put herself in this position - and even after we pulled her out of it she curled herself back up.

Bath Time - she LOVES having her hair washed
